More than 300 Boeing 737 MAX 8 and MAX 9 passenger jets around the world have been taken out of service following two fatal crashes over the past five months in Ethiopia and Indonesia that killed nearly 350 people combined.
The Nairobi-bound Boeing 737 Max 8 crashed near Bishoftu town, about 45 km from the capital, Addis Ababa, just minutes after takeoff from Bole International Airport, killing all 157 people aboard.
Boeing has since grounded its entire global fleet of 737 Max aircraft after investigators uncovered new evidence at the scene of the fatal Ethiopian Airlines crash.

The emergency declaration is being challenged in court as an unconstitutional usurpation of Congress' power of the purse. He also noted that despite record numbers of apprehensions at the border, there was not enough space to detain them all.
Transport Canada issued a safety notice on Wednesday restricting commercial use of the aircraft, citing new information from satellite tracking data that suggested "a possible, although unproven" similarity to the deadly Lion Air crash involving the same aircraft in October.
Both crashes remain under investigation, but a preliminary investigation of the Lion Air crash showed pilots fighting with an automatic safety system for control of the jet.

The Boeing 737 was previously the best-selling jet in history, and the new Max 8 was meant to be a good option for mid-range flights.

Referring to one of his other day jobs as CEO at SpaceX, Musk half-jokingly said "we will be driving a Tesla on Mars" in 10 years. The three most expensive models will available internationally from Q3 2020, with the standard arriving during Q2 2021.
This is the 737 Max's automatic anti-stalling system which is created to keep the plane from stalling.
Airlines have been scrambling to reposition planes worldwide to lessen the impact.
"This is part of the contract, which we signed with Boeing for all the 737 MAX aircraft", an unnamed senior SpiceJet executive told Business Standard.
Indonesia plans to send a flight inspector and an official from KNKT to Ethiopia to help with the probe into Sunday's crash, pending approval from Ethiopian authorities, Soerjanto said. "We view the interruptions from the 737 Max grounding as a temporary one", he said in a note to clients.
