Race for the White House: Midwestern senator throws her hat in the ring

Senator Amy Klobuchar from Minnesota has on Monday announced her bid running for U.S. 2020 presidential election against the United States President Donald Trump.

In typical fashion, Trump swiftly reacted to Klobuchar's announcement on Twitter.

The president tweeted: "Well, it happened again". "Correct. To me, it showed a strength and a grit and a visual that stood her up against Trump right there and set her apart".

She said she was running "for every worker, farmer, dreamer and builder". She found an easy path to victory, defeating her Republican challenger by more than 20 points.

Marilyn Bessler said that Klobuchar's measured approach to finding compromise in politics is an asset that will help her stand out in an increasingly polarizing political climate, and they tout her record of keeping political discourse positive.

Tiger found overweight, abandoned in Houston home
The cage was kept in a garage that was held closed only with a nylon strap and a screwdriver, police say. Houston Zoo said in a statement that it would not be able to take the tiger.

The 58-year-old granddaughter of an iron miner, Klobuchar is a former prosecutor with an unpretentious demeanor. She was elected Senator in 2006 and was easily re-elected in 2012 and 2016.

Her buzz has been dampened a bit by recent allegations that she has been abusive toward her staff, but she may try to turn the criticism into a strength.

A Des Moines Register/CNN/Mediacom poll conducted by Selzer & Company in December found that Klobuchar was largely unfamiliar to likely Iowa caucus-goers, with 54 per cent saying they didn't know enough about her to have an opinion, while 38 per cent had a favourable opinion and 8 per cent had an unfavourable opinion.

"She demeaned and berated her staff nearly daily, subjecting them to bouts of explosive rage and regular humiliation within the office, according to interviews and dozens of emails" BuzzFeed reviewed, the publication wrote.

"So I think taking on Amy Klobuchar, attacking her for standing in the middle of a snowfall in her home state, might not be the hill he wants to die on, might not be the smartest line of attack for Trump", Navarro added. "I am running for you".

It was not immediately clear how many guests and staff were inside the hotel, which had 43 guest rooms, according to its website. Mandeep Singh Randhawa, deputy police commissioner, said authorities are still investigating what sparked the fire.

"The concerns of Minnesotans are not necessarily the concerns of people in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida, Michigan, West Virginia, even Wisconsin", Minnesota Republican Party Chair Jennifer Carnahan told the Forum News Service.

Klobuchar delivered a message centered around unity and shared values, frequently referencing Minnesota's history and her family's ties to it.

Klobuchar has always been regarded as one of the U.S. Senate's most popular and effective members. A series of women, including Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Kamala Harris of California and Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii, have already announced their candidacy.

Senators Kamala Harris of California, Kirsten Gillibrand of NY and Warren of MA have all thrown their hat in the race, as has congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii. Citing anonymous sources, HuffPost reported that the alleged mistreatment scared off candidates to manage her presidential bid.

Klobuchar, the daughter of a journalist and a teacher, has a reputation as a fierce defender of the rights of the working class, consumers and women.

Trump , in turn, has often supported and joked about violence against reporters and the media, going so far as to praise Rep. Greg Gianforte after he allegedly threw an American reporter to the ground in the final days of his bid for Congress.

A talented orator with a flair for the dramatic, he drew attention for his performance during confirmation hearings of Trump Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
