The Favourite heads the list with 12

LONDON: Netflix production "Roma", a cinematic love letter to director Alfonso Cuaron´s childhood in Mexico City, triumphed at the Bafta film awards on Sunday, boosting its Oscar hopes.

Welcoming the movie's director Spike Lee and star Adam Driver to the ceremony, Lumley said: "It's an incredible film, it has already won many awards".

The film is nominated for six Oscars as well as outstanding film at the GLAAD Media awards, which honour the best representations of the LGBT community in film and television.

It won out against "Lord of the Rings" director Peter Jackson´s "They Shall Not Grow Old" in which silent black-and-white footage from World War I was transformed into a 3D colour movie.

"My mouth met hers and my mouth just opened and I kissed her. And what is very needed is a balance between the two economic models - the theatres and the (streaming) platforms, because that's only going to be good for cinema".

The Favourite, in which royal courtiers Weisz and Emma Stone compete for the affections of Colman's Queen Anne, picked up seven Baftas including best British film, as well as accolades for its writing and design.

Colman, who portrays the monarch as frail and tempestuous, won the Leading Actress category, a victory that had been expected by many.

Addressing the other winners from The Favourite, Olivia continued: "We are having an awesome night aren't we?"

"This is for a lead".

"As far as I'm concerned, all three of us are the same and should be the lead.This is for all three of us".
