Harris: I've Smoked Pot, It Gives A Lot Of People Joy

Two'Indian Americans eye the US Presidency

Tulsi Gabbard Senator Kamala Harris

"Listen, I think it gives a lot of people joy", Harris said of pot. Thirty-three states have legalized pot for medical use. And yes, she did inhale. "I was born black". "What it did for me, is it made me cough a lot". "And look, this is the same thing they did to Barack (Obama)". 'This is not new to us, and so I think that we know what they are trying to do'. "And we need more joy". He has two dauthers from a previous marriage.

Harris's comments follow those of fellow Democratic senator and 2020 candidate, Cory Booker, who kicked off his campaign earlier this month by calling for legalizing marijuana as an essential part of criminal justice reform.

In the interview, given to the New York-based radio show "The Breakfast Club", co-host Charlamagne Tha God asks Harris if she has ever smoked. "And I did inhale".

"It was a long time ago", she said.

Law seals Vic Open golf win with stunning eagle on final hole
France's Celine Boutier won the women's title - which ran alongside the men, with the same prize money - by two shots. Boutier's victory in the women's section was a groundbreaker, too, for the 25-year-old from Paris of Thai extraction.

"I just broke news", she said.

"That's not true. And look I joke about it, half joking - half my family's from Jamaica, are you kidding me", Harris replies, laughing. "Are you kidding me?"

During her campaign kick off event, Harris spoke about various issues such as Medicare for all, universal pre-K and climate change, however, racism and police brutality was a theme thread throughout the more than 35 minute campaign speech. "And we need more joy".

Harris also called for legalizing marijuana in her recently released memoir, The Truths We Hold: An American Journey. She added that she smoked weed in college and that "it was a joint".

Hakeem Al-Araibi to be released by Thailand court
Mr Al-Araibi was detained at Bangkok airport on November 27 when he arrived in Thailand for his honeymoon with his wife. Bahrain's reversal of Araibi's extradition is surprising. "They all deserve to be in front of camera now, not only me".

If elected, Harris would be the United States' first female president. "We have incarcerated so many - and particularly young men and young men of color - in a way that we have not for the same level of use (among) other young men".

"Right now in this country people are being arrested, being prosecuted, and end up spending time in jail or prison all due to their use of a drug that otherwise should be considered legal", she said in a press release.

Harris, who sits on the Senate Judiciary Committee, needled Barr, who said he does not support the current approach by the federal government allowing states to determine their own cannabis laws, despite federal law prohibiting its recreational use. She states very clearly that she is in favor of legalizing marijuana.

"I have. And I inhaled", she said - an apparent reference to former President Bill Clinton's famous admission in 1992. He has said he has never taken an illegal drug or drunk alcohol, with the exception of communion wine. "That was the point", joked Obama, then a U.S. Senator for IL. She said she supports it. 'I'm not going to start now'. After letting the cat out of the bag during a 2015 primary debate, he tweeted: 'Sorry Mom'.
