The three individuals involved in the new cases were in close contact with the first Multnomah County resident who tested positive for measles January 25, according to the Oregon Health Authority.

The CDC said that at least eight other states have reported cases of the measles in 2019: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey, New York and Oregon.

Symptoms of measles include high fever, cough, runny nose, and red eyes, followed up by flat red spots that appear on the face at the hairline and spread down throughout the body.
