Titanfall battle royale game Apex Legends set to release on Monday – rumor

Titanfall battle royale game Apex Legends ‘to be released on Monday’

Rumblings of the surprise release emerged after YouTube channel TheQuartering cited inside sources claiming the game would be announced on Monday, with numerous streamers, such as Shroud and Dr. Disrespect, having reportedly played the game already.

After the success of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, and subsequently Fortnite, there's been no shortage of other franchises that have jumped on the battle royale bus, such as Black Ops 4 and Battlefield V. While the game is set in the Titanfall universe, it, unfortunately, will not include Titans.

Apex Legends will feature microtransactions and loot crates for cosmetics which will be similar to Overwatch's loot model. Apex Legends is using the modified Source engine so it's possible the game was born from Titanfall 3's development and is a way for Respawn to buy themselves more development time for Titanfall 3. I do find the lack of Titans slightly disturbing.

According to Kotaku and Rod Breslau, EA apparently invited several influencers to an event to play the game last week. It nearly feels as if EA tries to sabotage their own games with overlapping release windows. Surprisingly, Apex Legends will ditch the Titan mechs that give the series its namesake.
