Miami Hurricanes hire Dan Enos as offensive coordinator

Prior to his time at Cincinnati, Enos worked at North Dakota State (offensive coordinator/quarterbacks, 2003), Western Michigan (quarterbacks, 2000-02), Missouri State (offensive coordinator/quarterbacks, 1999), Southern Illinois (quarterbacks/wide receivers, 1997-98), Northern Michigan (offensive coordinator/offensive backs, 1996) and Lakeland College (offensive coordinator/quarterbacks/wide receivers, 1994-95).

"Dan was my primary target for our offensive coordinator position from the outset and I'm thrilled that he's now a Miami Hurricane", Diaz said in the release announcing the hire Friday. Five coaches from the 2017 staff were not on the field in 2018, and the Crimson Tide still ran the table leading up to the College Football Playoff National Championship loss to Clemson. "I also understood where he was, and that he had a good job".

The question now becomes if someone else is leaving Alabama for Miami. Enos led the Tide to one of the highest-scoring offenses in the country and did a great job with the development of Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts this season. Hurts is visiting Miami this weekend, according to Barry Jackson.

"I couldn't be more excited to join a program as rich in tradition as the University of Miami", Enos said in a statement distributed by the school. Enos has 28 years experience as a football coach. This was an opportunity I felt I couldn't pass up.

Ultimately, though, Diaz - the Hurricanes former defensive coordinator who took over as Miami's coach on December 30 after the abrupt retirement of Mark Richt - chose Enos, a 28-year coaching veteran who spent last season as the associate head coach and quarterbacks coach at powerhouse Alabama. "I learned so much during my time there and I will always be grateful". Diaz has set the tone for his staff with this pair of hires and he is trying to take the Hurricanes in a new direction after a disastrous end to former coach Mark Richt's tenure in South Florida.
