First Landing Made On Moon's Far Side

Chang'e 4 spacecraft lands on far side of the Moon in world first for China

Lunar project chief designer Wu Weiren called the separation of the rover "a small step for the rover, but one giant leap for the Chinese nation". This geological landmark resides within the South Pole-Aitken Basin, the biggest crater on the moon. The area available for the landing is only one eighth of that for Chang'e-3, and is surrounded by mountains as high as 10 km. The first consisted of the lunar orbiters Chang'e 1 and 2. While landing on the far side of the moon is within NASA's technical abilities, the United States has not pursued the development and testing of spacecraft to accomplish such a feat.

2 rover has now started to make its way across the lunar surface.

It is also notable that China's state news service provided no live coverage of Monday night's landing attempt.

It is not the first time the system has been deployed to take sharp photos of the moon's surface: It was first used in 2013 on the Chang'e-3, which landed on the moon's Mare Imbrium crater.

United Kingdom economy loses momentum as Brexit deadline looms
The same was true for new orders, where a marked expansion was recorded that extended the current sequence of growth to 37 months. There were also reports that greater food prices and higher costs for imported items had pushed up operating expenses.

There is much to explore on the far side of the moon.

The Chang'e-4 probe which has already sent back its first close-up pictures from the surface is carrying instruments to analyse the unexplored region's geology and will conduct biological experiments.

He believes this ambitious mission "shows that China has reached the advanced world-class level in deep space exploration". Previous landings on the Earth-facing side of the moon have been landed remotely from mission control.

Shortly after landing, Chang'e-4 returned a photo of the lunar surface by way a relay satellite in lunar orbit, named Queqiao, meaning Magpie Bridge.

"There are rocks all over the far side that are four billion years old", she continued.

He then kissed both of her cheeks and forehead before bestowing a kiss on the girl's lips, much to the delight of the crowd. The video concludes with the rapper saying he didn't know "if I should feel guilty or not, but I had fun".

The first Chang'e spacecraft was launched in 2007 to verify China's lunar probe technology, obtain lunar images and perform scientific surveys.

The tasks of the Chang'e-4 include astronomical observation, surveying the moon's terrain, landform and mineral makeup, and measuring the neutron radiation and neutral atoms to study the environment of its far side.

The mission that carried the rover to the Moon launched on December 8 on top of a Long March-3B rocket, which took off from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in the Sichuan Province.

China has been trying to catch up with the United States and other nations in space exploration.
