The audio was captured December 1 by two sensors on InSight and the wind was estimated to have been moving about 10 to 15 miles per hour at the time the vibrations were captured. This sensor recorded the vibrations directly while the seismometer recorded the vibrations of the movement the wind caused in the solar panels.
Nasa said that the air pressure sensor used to collect meteorological data recorded these air vibrations directly. The APSS air pressure sensor recorded vibrations at an even lower frequency, around 10 Hz.
The space agency released a raw audio sample of the sound on Friday, which could be heard through mobile and laptop speakers.
The craft's landing comes as part of NASA's mission to explore the planet's deep interior. The low-frequency rumblings were collected by the InSight lander during its first week of operations at Mars.

There are, of course, still awards being handed out to various games, with none quite as big as Game of the Year . Rather than tracking down one of those feeds, feel free to watch the YouTube stream right here on TechSpot.
'The solar panels on the lander's sides are flawless acoustic receivers, ' Prof Pike said.
This is the only time when vibrations from the lander will be recorded by the seismometer, since it will be moved by the craft's robotic armed and placed on the Martian surface, along with other instruments.

"Capturing this audio was an unplanned treat", Bruce Banerdt, of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, said in a press release.

We are only guessing at this point, but judging what the company did in the past, that's exactly what will happen. As for the objective of the notch, it would hide the front-facing camera, as you can see in the leaked photo.
"But one of the things our mission is dedicated to is measuring motion on Mars, and naturally that includes motion caused by sound waves", he said. Scientists noted that the first sounds from Mars that are detectable by human ears.
NASA describes the sounds as a "haunting low rumble". As new Science Minister I am excited to see what more we can achieve on land and in outer space.
NASA's new tool - the Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport - aka "InSight" touched down on Mars on November 26. "But we know that everything is a little different for the lander on Mars, so faults are not unusual", Hoffman said.
The air pressure sensor inside the shield will be relocated as well, and the team will gather data at night, when it expects the wind will have died down and the lander itself will be making less noise.
