Gaza court sentences 6 people to hang for ‘collaborating’ with Israel

"The military court issued 13 different sentences against the suspects, including six to death", said Nasser Sleiman, head of the military court in the Gaza Strip.

The UN General Assembly is scheduled to vote on Thursday to a USA draft resolution that condemns Hamas movement for firing rockets from the Gaza Strip into Israel.

The six condemned to death on Monday ranged in age from 29 to 55 and had each allegedly been working with Israeli intelligence for several years.

Sami Abu Zuhri, a Gaza Hamas leader, said in a statement that "the worldwide community is standing in front of a real test to prevent the US administration from violating the global laws".

Bozum during a press briefing also hailed the rulings as a "clear message" to those who would cooperate with Israel.

The verdicts drew condemnation from Human Rights Watch.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, however, has refused to sign death sentences, even in the West Bank.
