Talking about handheld consoles, Sony PlayStation Vita has not seen any support from the company for years now, neither we have heard anything related to the successor of the device.

According to reports, Dutch site TechTastic revealed a Sony patent for an "electronic game cartridge" filed in South Korea past year with Korean Intellectual Property Right Information Service (KIPRIS).

The patent for Sony's new game cartridge was first discovered by the Dutch website Techtastic.

He found the targets on Shodan.io , which is basically a search engine for unsecured, internet-connected devices. According to TheHackerGiraffe, there were about 800,000 printers that could have been exploited.

The patent application is called Electronic Game Cartridge, and it shows something similar to a cross between a classic PlayStation memory card and a NintendoSwitch game cartridge.

Sony seems to be taking a leaf out of Nintendo's book, with a new patent for a gaming cartridge surfacing.

David Watkins, Director at Strategy Analytics, commented, "Contrary to some expectations, the global TV games console market remains healthy". The cartridge itself is made of metal and synthetic resin materials, as pointed out by The Verge. Instead, portable gaming should just be treated as one possible method of delivering games. According to Kodera, Sony should be thinking of portable gaming not as a separate product from consoles like the PS Vita, but as an entertainment channel that supplements the core product.

Perhaps worse, numerous other games on the list are simply forgettable. They said that the photos turned out to be fake.

Nintendo should enjoy this lead if it does take place next year, because things are going to get very interesting once the next Xbox and the PlayStation 5 enter the market.
