In response, Florida senator Marco Rubio chose to accuse the Democratic Party of conspiring with Broward County election officials to illicitly overturn the will of the electorate, and illegitimately install Bill Nelson into the U.S. Senate. The ballots were rejected because one person is not a citizen and the other person came in to vote after the polls closed.

Speaking to the media, Scott alleged that the phenomenon of his rapidly vanishing advantage is a direct effect of the shady dealings of Broward County and Palm Beach County officials.

As we go to press, Kemp, the secretary of state, with nearly all the precincts reported, has 50.5 percent and Abrams has 48.6 percent of the tally. "The people of Florida deserve fairness and transparency".

Absentee ballots from overseas voters that were postmarked by Election Day and are still trickling in also will be added to the unofficial results, Turner said, along with write-in votes on ballots.

"I believe Sen. Nelson will prevail", Elias said. Marco Rubio, appeared to be victorious on election night.

In that race, incumbent Sen.

But now that the margin between them has narrowed to almost 22,000 votes as of Thursday, Florida State Law mandates a statewide recount.

Detzner told county election officials on November 8 to prepare for statewide recounts, according to The Tampa Bay Times.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg returns home after fall, hospitalization
The fall forced Ginsburg to miss Thursday's investiture ceremony welcoming new justice Brett Kavanaugh to the court. She was treated for colon cancer in 1999, pancreatic cancer in 2009 and underwent a heart procedure in 2014.

Florida House of Representatives Speaker-designate Jose R. Olivia supported Scott's direction. The county's then-elections supervisor, Democrat Theresa LePore, wanted to make the 10 presidential candidates' names bigger on the ballot so senior citizens could read them. I fully support and commend the Governor for directing FDLE to investigate. The power of the vote is only as strong as the trust in the count. "With each new ballot "found" that trust erodes". Nelson trailed Scott by 0.26 points, or less than 22,000 votes.

As of Thursday afternoon, in the race for governor, former Republican Rep. Ron DeSantis leads Tallahassee mayor Andrew Gillum by.47 percent. Under state law in Florida, a recount is mandatory if the winning candidate's margin is 0.5 percentage points or less. If the margin is within 0.25%, as it stood Thursday in the Senate race, a hand recount - slower and more thorough than by machine - is ordered.

Gillum's campaign said it's monitoring the situation with an elections lawyer and readying for a possible state-mandated recount.

Nelson's election attorney, Marc Elias, tweeted Friday that "as the counties continue their work, I expect that margin will narrow further".

"Because of her extensive and successful leadership and administrative skills, Dr. Snipes was asked by Governor Jeb Bush to serve out the term of Supervisor of Elections in Broward County", her state website said. But as votes continued to be counted and DeSantis' lead shrank to less than half of a percentage point, Gillum stated demanding a recount. Both counties are considered areas rich in Democratic votes.

For this and other reasons, lawyers for Nelson and Gillum chose to call on the state of Florida to honor its statutory obligation to perform a recount. It was unknown late Thursday how many Broward had accepted. By Thursday evening, that number jumped to 712,840.

That meant that on ballots in Wilson's district, the Senate race was the only race beneath the ballot instructions in the left-hand column.

The county is making some progress. "But it's a lot harder to count a vote that hasn't been cast". But early voting ballots are still being tabulated.

Bryce Harper Turned Down $300 Million Contract From Nationals
Harper has attention from several teams as the Phillies and White Sox have publicly admitted interest, even at a high price. It is believed though that he could waive it if he was offered a move closer to his home of Panorama City, CA.

However, Nelson did not publicly concede, instead having an aide tell supporters shortly after midnight that while many news reports were declaring Scott the victor, Nelson would have no statement until later Wednesday.

But Scott was a good candidate and Nelson wasn't.

Gillum initially conceded to DeSantis Tuesday night, but Gillum's campaign team released a statement Thursday saying they "operated with the best information available about the number of outstanding ballots left to count".

The Gillum statement said that since the concession speech "it has become clear there are many more uncounted ballots than was originally reported".

They could, however, be decisive in the agriculture-commissioner race, in which Democrat Nikki Fried held a slim lead of almost 3,000 votes over Republican Matt Caldwell. DeSantis now leads Gillum by almost 40,000 votes.

Provisional ballots are given to voters because their eligibility to vote is challenged for some reason - perhaps they have an address discrepancy, or they forgot their ID. Canvassing boards conduct the recount by running ballots through vote tabulation machines.

Nelson attorney Elias said historically, more Democrats cast provisional ballots than Republicans.

And like in 2000, the counting process is becoming contentious.
