In one of the closest (and most closely-watched) races of the 2018 election, Republican representative Ron DeSantis has edged out Andrew Gillum to become Governor of Florida.

DeSantis, as closely identified with Trump as any candidate in the nation this year, turned back Gillum's bid to be Florida's first black governor in an election that drew intense national attention from both parties.
