The growing concern for air quality in the National Capital Region (NCR) has pushed the government to organise a Clean Air Week from 1 November to 5 November.

A Clean Air Week would be organised from 01 to05 November, 2018 in collaboration with the Government of Delhi and the four major NCR cities to control the air pollution.
The Ministry has formed 52 teams to undertake extensive visits to all the areas in Delhi and NCR to check the pollution sources and penalize the violators. The Centre-run System of Air Quality Forecasting And Research (SAFAR) recorded the AQI at 410. It said that as per the latest report of the Union government, vehicles contribute some 40 per cent of the pollution in Delhi city. "To get there, we need to set an aspirational goal to reduce the number of deaths from air pollution by two-thirds by 2030", said Ghebreyesus in his closing speech.
Due to deteriorating air quality in the national capital, authorities have declared emergency measures for 10 days starting today.
From Thursday, there will be a halt of all construction activities involving excavation. SAFAR further said the AQI for next two days would remain in "very poor" range but with increasing trend. All the DMs and MCD commissioners shall be involved in the campaign and ensure that quick action is taken on the cases of violations reported by the field teams.

The bench in its order had directed the CPCB to immediately create a social media account where citizens could lodge their complaints directly about pollution on which appropriate action could be taken by the authorities concerned.
