'Game of Thrones' stars, network react to Trump's 'sanctions are coming' tweet

With his seemingly infinite capacity for tone deafness, Trump tweeted on Friday an HBO-style movie poster of himself with the phrase "Sanctions are coming", referring to the Game of Thrones tagline that "winter is coming", and thereby menacing Iran. The speed and creativity of numerous photoshop efforts was something to behold.

Game of Thrones writer George R.R. Martin weighed in on the scandal and tweeted a message to Trump as well.

The network also told CNBC: "We were not aware of this messaging and would prefer our trademark not be misappropriated for political purposes".
