Five people have been killed in a string of shootings in Bakersfield, California.

"We have six deceased, one is the suspect and five are victims", said Lieutenant Mark King of the Kern County sheriff's office after the shooting in the city of Bakersfield.

Reuters reported the police recovered a pistol at the scene.

The entire incident took place over 10 to 15 minutes, he said. He then fatally shot his wife, Youngblood said.

Court records show Casarez filed for a divorce from his wife, Petra Maribel Bolanos de Casarez, in December and that it was finalized on April 12. They had three children.

Woodward goes on to say that he's "never seen an instance when the president is so detached from the reality of what's going on". The tweets attracted widespread attention and concern - "the Internet lost its collective mind", as Woodward wrote in his book.

Bolanos recently filed for a change involving child support and custody over the couple's two teenage children, and the pair had a hearing set for October 11, court records show. He told the woman something to the effect of "he wasn't a bad person", Youngblood said. Valadez may have witnessed the initial shootings.

The first man fatally shot the second, and then killed his wife as well. The daughter may have tried to intervene, Youngblood said.

Casarez then carjacked a vehicle before being stopped by a sheriff's deputy and turning the gun (a.50 caliber handgun) on himself.

Casarez then stops talking to the deputies and turns his body away from them, showing only his back.
