The 5.8-inch iPhone X replacement has always been known as iPhone XS, but the largest of the threesome has been called either iPhone XS Plus or iPhone XS Max.

The un-Apple-like move would see the iPad following in the footsteps of the MacBook, which ditched the firm's much-loved MagSafe chargers for USB-C ports in 2016.

The UK price is expected to be in line with the dollar price as Apple has typically retailed its phones for the exact same amount in sterling as it has in dollars.

Apple, which is looking for ways to lessen reliance on phones for revenue, opened its event by announcing the new Apple Watch Series 4 range with edge-to-edge displays, like its latest phones, which are more than 30 percent bigger than displays on current models.

SAN FRANCISCO Apple is expected to unveil its biggest and most expensive iPhone on Wednesday as part of a lineup of three new models aimed at widening the product's appeal amid slowing sales growth.

Bradley wins BMW Championship, Tiger falls short once more
But Rose subsequently dropped a shot at the par-four 18th, where his 15-foot putt for the win lipped out. That put him in violation of a new PGA Tour rule created to route big-name players to smaller events.

As expected, Apple revealed several new iterations of the iPhone during its Keynote 2018 address.

"There's no real game-changer on the table", said Hal Eddins, chief economist at Apple shareholder Capital Investment Counsel.

The new top model, called iPhone XS Max, has a 16.5-centimetre screen with a "super retina" edge-to-edge OLED display with richer colours.

The iPhone XS has landed.

The iPhone XS and XS Max feature improved dual 12-megapixel cameras, with better True Tone sensors and fast 1.8 aperture lenses.

The Ocean Cleanup project sails out to sweep Pacific plastic
They will stay in the water for two decades and in that time will collect 90 per cent of the garbage in the patch, he added. Every year, at least 8 tonnes of plastic leaks into our oceans.

As for the Apple Watch, the sitemap files indicate that it's also due for a size increase with cases for the new watch apparently coming in at 40mm and 44mm versions, up from the 38mm and 42mm models now available.

The leak coming directly from Apple's website means it's quite likely this is accurate, but we won't know anything for absolute certain until later today when Tim Cook takes to the stage in California and says the names out loud for the first time.

The event may see the Apple Watch getting its first significant redesign since its launch three years ago.

It's been reported Apple will also change its naming convention for the new model and dub it the iPhone Xs Max, dropping the "Plus" suffix that's traditionally been given to larger iPhone models.

With the new launches, Apple is hoping to expand its market share in the increasingly competitive smart-phone space.
