Infiniti Prototype 10 concept revealed

Unlike some of the other creations set to be unveiled over the next 48 hours, however, the Prototype 10 is described by its creators as "purely a design study" with very few tangible links to their future output. Previously employed by BMW and Mercedes-Benz, Habib says Prototype 10 was inspired by the post-war California hot-rodding scene, where gearheads built single-seat speedsters and streamliners for dry lakes racing.

A future vision realized by Infiniti designers, Prototype 10 evokes the spirit of early Californian speedsters. Given that several of the company's models are up for revision, we can expect to see some pretty futuristic design elements appear on the next generation of models in the near-future. Of course, that means a blend of both hybrids and fully electric vehicles across the lineup.

It is the first Infiniti whose design was conceived entirely by Karim Habib, a former BMW designer who took over the design reins at Infiniti a year ago.

Money and loyalty: A look inside the dramatic Trump-Cohen rift
US intelligence agencies, and separate Mueller indictments of several Russian individuals, have concluded they did. Such payments could be considered illegal campaign contributions under federal election law, according to experts.

The Pebble Beach is where you will want to be at if you want to check out some of the more outrageous electric concepts that automakers have to offer.

Where Prototype 9-a sleek, open-wheeled, electric retro-roadster-imagined an alternative history for Infiniti, the Prototype 10 is focused on what the future holds for the brand.

As for electrification, Infiniti came close to entering that emerging segment early in the decade with what was going to be little more than a more lavishly equipped version of the Nissan Leaf sold by its parent.

Barris has been nominated for two Emmys as a producer on Black-ish and the series received a Peabody Award in 2016. This isn't the first time that there has been an attempt to bring the series back.

It's also Infiniti's unsubtle way of showing its intentions to build a sleek electric auto in the near future. Communicating the notion of electrification and performance, Prototype 10's uncluttered cockpit is fitted only with a driver's seat, four-point harness, brake and accelerator pedals, and a striking, highly technical race-inspired steering wheel.

What we know is that Infiniti's new modular platform is created to offer multiple electrified powertrains, including series hybrid, parallel hybrid and pure electric options.

Modular platforms will enable Infiniti to apply e-POWER and battery EV powertrains in new and creative ways within chassis of all shapes and sizes-including sedans, SUVs and sports cars. Featuring an electric drivetrain, Prototype 9 took styling inspiration from an imaginary world where Infiniti 1) existed in the 1930s, and 2) participated in the Formula 1 racing of that era. In accommodating batteries and electric motors or employing smaller gasoline engines, we aren't bound by the same physical restrictions. It gives a hint as to what the Japanese carmaker's production vehicles could look like in the coming years, especially as everything centers on low-emission electric power.
