Buck-a-beer details confirmed, Ontario brewery announces participation

Ontario Premier Doug Ford rolled out the provincial government's buck-a-beer plan at a brewery early today in Picton, Ont.

Ford, who was joined by Minister of Finance, Vic Fedeli, and Minister of Government and Consumer Services, Todd Smith, announced that, effective August 27, Ontario's Government for the People will lower the minimum price floor to $1.00 for any beer with an alcohol volume below 5.6 per cent.

Brewers are not required to charge less, but Ford says that there will be various incentives for those that do charge less. Barley Days Brewery, where Ford made his announcement, has said they will be releasing a specialty beer for $1.
