Raptors hire Nick Nurse as new head coach

On Tuesday, reports surfaced announcing the Raptors had settled on assistant coach Nick Nurse as their next head man. According to Woj, the two sides are still working out the specific details of the contract. He won a pair of championships in the British Basketball League in 1996 and 2000, as well as D-League titles in 2011 and 2013. Nurse would probably have to be considered the front-runner of the group, given his track record and how the offense shifted and held up in the playoffs, but it's always hard to ascribe credit and blame across a coaching staff. External candidates included San Antonio Spurs assistants Ettore Messina and Ime Udoka, former Atlanta Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer (who was hired by the Milwaukee Bucks on May 17) and EuroLeague coach Sarunas Jasikevicius.
